On Preservatives.
A lot of foods today have in them the mixture of some preservatives, especially baked foods. A
preservative is a substance that helps retain the freshness of food which might not be consumed
immediately after its making.
Baked foods like bread, cake, etc contain an amount of preservatives in order that the foods do not
become harmful for the body but can be safely eaten over a period of days.
Ironically, some of these preservatives are in themselves harmful and advised against, hence some chefs
preference to make foods without them.
Because you might not know which food, baked or cooked from stores have preservatives, you should
know how to preserve all edibles especially perishable foods too like vegetables (tomatoes, carrot, etc).
Baked foods like bread and cake can be preserved by storing in a fridge.
Fun fact:
Baked foods like bread and cake can be preserved by storing in a fridge. It is very unadvisable to store
your bread in a freezer as is common in many hones. You will only be eating a stale bread. Leave it in a
fridge and watch it's freshness retained.
For tomatoes and other vegetables, you can have them fresh for days too. How? Spread your tomatoes
on a flat surface (on the ground where there is no counter). This easy hack is applicable for onions too.
Your leaves from the market? Another one: cut a plantain leaf and spread your plants on them. You can
as well cover with another fresh leaf. Try this with water leaf and have it fresh for an extra two days.
